Meet G W
George Lehtinen is an artist, author, and storyteller whose experiences growing up in Alaska continue to inspire his creative work today. After spending a decade immersed in the state’s remarkable landscapes, wildlife, and culture, he developed a deep appreciation for the unique beauty and adventure that Alaska offers. Through his writing, he hopes to share that sense of wonder with young readers while preserving memories of life in the Last Frontier.
A lifelong artist, George earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Winona State University in Minnesota. His creative journey has included illustration, mural work, graphic design, and cartooning, including entertaining fellow sailors with daily cartoons during his service in the United States Coast Guard. Today, he combines his love of art and storytelling to create illustrated children’s books featuring engaging rhymes, colorful imagery, and stories that celebrate Alaska’s people, landscapes, and traditions.
